The XPS 15 is a pro apps slim and light laptop that can handle mobile workstation duties (and a little bit of gaming). It has an aluminum unibody design with a carbon fiber keyboard deck, a backlit keyboard, Microsoft Precision trackpad, WiFi 6 and Thunderbolt 3. It competes with the 15” Macbook Pro, Razer Blade 15” and somewhat with thin and light gaming laptops. It’s available with Core i5, i7 and i9 45 watt CPUs.

  1. I'm planning on getting the xps oled 4k version, but worried about screen burn in. I tried looking online but cant seem to find anything on people doing test on this issue. What would you say, is burning an issue, have you done any tests. I plan to use the laptop for some light video editing and mainly using Microsoft office, total usage hour of about 6/7 hours a day.

  2. I went through 3 or 4 Dell XPS machines at work and they all died. Also the 'carbon fibre' plastic has an unpleasant sort of greasy texture that I could never get used to. I'll never give a penny of my own money to Dell.

  3. Word of caution. 7590 and Precision 5540 (same platform) have HBR2 and NOT HBR3 Thunderbolt. This results in laptop being unable to support 2 x 4k@60Hz, only 2 x 4k@30Hz with a TB dock, such as WD19TB.

  4. I've had it with my 2018 MacBook Pro's keyboard and am prepping to sell it and get a new laptop. Right now I'm tearing my hair out between Lenovo and Dell, focusing on keyboard for obvious reasons, and your reviews are absolutely positively invaluable. Thank you!

  5. Lisa, quick question. I thought dell just came out a new bio update to fix the throttle issue. Can you please kindly confirm if that is correct? It seems like none of the reviews even mention about it. Wondering why. Tks again

  6. Hi, could you if possible can review Dell New Inspiron 13 5390 Laptop, (8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8565U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.6 GHz) and Lenovo IDEAPAD S540 (14, INTEL), I7 model ?

  7. I put an order for this laptop with the i7, 16gb RAM and 512GB SSD with 4k oled screen for college. I'm feeling optimistic for this to serve me well since I'm not gonna do much gaming on it and mostly college stuff and casual streaming. I have my gaming PC for the heavy gaming and stuff. Thank you always for you excellent work Lisa.
