ultra small PC gaming with EGPU on HP pro

Another look at my little HP pro usdt i picked up on ebay for $30 dollars. I used the wifi mini pcie to run a MSI gt-1030 graphics card. Laptop graphics card dock works rather well with this AMD Athlon II x 2

  1. there are models with a dedicated graphics card slot. I've been wanting one of these for no stupid reason for quite some time now. maybe as a mini HTPC. now that you've confirmed that external GPU dock ( another toy I've been wanting) works with this PC I want them both even more XD. but I already have too many computers X-P

  2. Can somebody please recommend me a graphics card around $20? I have a Xeon in a 775 socket, 4gb ram and thats pretty much it.

  3. I have an old AMD 64 Live Pavilion a1640n in my closet I bought over a decade ago for emergency use. I should toss the GTX 1050 in it before I toss it in the mini-RIG I'm working on just to see if I can get it to do much.

  4. Hey modstek loved your video… You had any problem using the gpd? I wanna know before pulling the trigger buying it.

  5. I have one of the same computers but mine has a core i5 in it. And i planned on putting a gpu dock with a 1030 or better on it.

  6. Between this and ETA Prime's latest video – I gotta say the 1030 is looking really quite good – and in this kind of setup, where your adding some much needed graphics power to a SFF system, for the price of it and the extra's needed to make it happen, you cant go wrong!

  7. Sweet vid, im getting my asus ready for gaming if I get you the specs could you guide me in the right direction?

  8. Great idea, you revived old pc to new glory.. Never thought you can put that eGPU to super slim desktop pc, only laptops.

  9. hey modstek, maybe you could help me figure something out? I have a dell 790 desktop, it's not the usff like this one in the vid…it's the one in-between the usff and the tower, maybe a sff(no U)? It lays sideways but has standard 24+4 power and 2 (yes 2) pcie graphics card slots. It has an I5 2400 and 8gigs ram, 256gig ssd+500gig hard drive. I'm currently running a lo-profile hd8490 but I bought a full height rx560 for it and butchered the back of the case for it to fit. The rx560 doesn't have any power connections so I thought I'd be ok. Well I should've done some research online first, apparently these motherboards dont like anything over 35watts. There's no point taking the mb out and swapping power supplies, it wouldn't make any difference with no power conn. on the gpu. There's no onboard pcie wireless card so I can"t use one of the adaptors like in the vid. Do i give up and get a different card? Either a gt1030 with less current draw or a card with a 6or8 pin power conn.? It sucks, I think the rx560 would've been fine for the games I play (mostly emulator or battle royale type games). Anyways, sorry for the long post and I hope maybe you or somebody in the comments might have some recommendations. Thanks in advance, Cole

  10. Do you think I could buy one of those Hps from you for cheap?? They cost too much to be practical online and I’d love to modify one

  11. I always love your vids, but I'd like to know what you use to make your stickers/labels. Also, what tips do you have on painting PC cases and parts. I'd like to learn to do this as good as you do.
